Pre-final year students are not eligible to write GATE?
GATE examination 2012 is getting nearer. And finger countable days are left for the online examination date. All those candidates who are appearing for the battle to enter into the prestigious M.tech universities across the country are ready with their final preparations.
But it’s been a very sad year for the pre final year students who were keen in attempting the exam to check their level of preparation.

Yes. Till 2012, Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture and
those who were in the final and pre-final year of such programmes were eligible to write the exam. But, this year they made a slight change in the eligibility criteria by removing the word “pre final”. We all know that most of the questions in GATE are related to aptitude, mathematics and remaining questions will be from our respective branch subjects till 5th semester. All those students who are in the 5thor 6th semester still had a very good chance
of cracking the exams. But this new rule would surely disappoint such aspirants.
Check out the new eligibility requirement for GATE examination:

But, all other rules such as no limit on number of times of appearing for GATE examination and also no upper age limit for appearing GATE examination remains the same. Let’s hope that they would bring back their previous rule and let’s not stop preparing for the GATE. And also, I would like to wish all the luck to all those aspirants who are appearing for the upcoming GATE.
