VTU digital evaluation of answer scripts.
Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) will become the first university in Karnataka to make use of latest digital technology to evaluate all answer scripts. VTU vicechancellor H Maheshappa said the system involving high-end technology is errorproof. “Students can get results in a record time when the efficient and transparent system is put in place,” he said. Lakhs of answer scripts of the exams, scheduled for May-June 2011, will be evaluated digitally. VTU’s pilot programme of digital evaluation of MBA and MCA exam answer scripts has been successful. At present, the facility is available only on the VTU campus in Belgaum.
It will soon be extended to four regional centres, the V-C added. The varsity also has plans to extend the facility to every college as it would prevent evaluators from coming all the way to Belgaum.
VTU, being one of the biggest technological universities in India, has 186 engineering colleges affiliated to it. Twenty-eight undergraduate and 71 post-graduate and research programmes are being offered at the university.
HOW IT’S DONE
Answer scripts will be scanned using highresolution scanners and stored. For evaluation, they will be sent to regional centres through e-mail. The evaluators check the digitized answer scripts on computers interfaced with an internet server. If a student applies for reevaluation, the answer scripts will be sent to him/her through e-mail.

hello sir, Its not useful for all type of students and its very difficult to get the good marks………Scanning all paper require more time. And their is chance of page miss if this is done by unfortunately then what v vl do….. Think practical… transporting paper it may cost effective but they will collect it from students only baba….
Is this type of evaluation is applicable for all engineering exam(B.E) or for M.B.A only

its another way of looting the money from students.
this is simply making the evaluation worse, poor students will suffer a lot and what abt if evaluator forgot to check some questions since he will be sitting infrant of the computer for long hours……
students lifes were taken as frogs in bio lab and do the experiments as they want……
this is not helpful to pass the subjects…….

I dont know whether it wil be beneficial to VTU or students or both… how ever i always feel bad in the evaluation process.. bec i have seen many instance in which a student who had failed or got less marks in first evaluation has passed in second evaluation and even in challenge evaluation…..how come this possible????? does it mean each evaluator as there own answers?????or what is the reason for this problem……
let me seee what happens with this new evaluation….

i am very much scared about the new way of evaluation….vtu results are always unpredictable
i have applied for revaluation how i’ll get my paper to my email id..
hey ..take it from me I have experienced it ..its our fault only for not studying well ..we skip many things ..even if you write in the worst hand writing also vtu sees the diagrams draw ..u see time is not suffice to see every answer .if you draw well labeled diagrams and write a few points about it ..i think you should do well …i my opinion vtu throws marks .heres suggestion write all that you know fully .not like you know this one half and the other question half ..u shud know each question fully ..else bad marks are bound to occur .I did badly in 3 4 and 5th sems ..its all my fault only i did not study well .i secured fcd in 6th sem ..i had failed in 1 sub in 5th sem but passed in reval ..maybe there wasnt enough time u tend to skip some of the pages right ? hence reval marks increases .See it this way nothing illogical ever happens ..the effect is always as per the cause ..there is no way that one studied 100% thoroughly and still fails ..
hope we all learnt our lesson ..prioritize ..keep ur studies firt during study hols ..do few topics from each subject daily and take yourinternals very very seriously .even your lab internals ..totally out of 200 marks thats is lab internal theory and practicals i had 187 last sem ..iknew i will get above 40 in lab externals in both subjects ..i need 47% in vtu exam over all to get first class result…and i dont think getting 47% is that difficult in vtu ..i have not studied also for some subjects in in my 3rd sem yet i cud score 45% ..so come on guys stop blaming the university for everything !
i dint like this system of correction by scanning n al.its true if any paper is misplaced then its very problamatic.
Any prblms if we draw diagrams in pencil
U should draw all diagrams in BLACK PEN only otherwise ur diagram wont b visible & u will lose marks
vtu play with students life…………in software field so many loop holes r der soooooo dis system is helpfull for hackers one day………… i think old system s gud……???

The ppl who has thought of implementing this scheme 4 evaluation, are much experienced and thoughtful than us all, of course.. before implementing this, all d possible outcomes will be considered!As som1 said, “wt if a page misses out while scanning”., because of this only u’ll be made 2 cross d quests u’ve answered! d software will not accept if u don enter marks for the attempted quest! hence the evaluator’ll be forced 2 send d booklet 4 re-scanning!
results’ll b available in short time & the optimized utilization of resources will be possible, which reduces human error while totalling, also increases accuracy!
U”LL GET WHAT U DESERVE!! blindly assigning 35 will be checked!!

I hate this type of evaluation and all. Instead of doing this digital evaluation they can make the exam itself digital.
NOWADAYS REVALUATION MEANS PAYING MONEY N GETTING MARKS……Y CANT THE EVALUATOR CORRECT THE PAPERS PROPERLY…..FOR GETTING RIGHT MARKS WE SHD SUFFER A LOT N ALSO PAY MONEY 4 DAT…TIS ONLINE CORRECTION KILL STUDENTS……IF THE SCANNED PAPER OUTPUT IS NOT GOOD,STUDENT WIL LOOSE MARKS…..I HATE THE NEW WAY OF CORRECTING PAPERS!!!!!!!!
Dear freinds…..this system is implemented not after the success of pilot test, but due to some close relationships with the vendor of the service provider and the management team of the university. hope u guys are smart enough to guess the name of responsible person.
This sytem of evaluation is a FAIL… this is because every student has their own set of vocabulary. Most of the students are not so good in english either.. What if the students miss out on a few keywords or write the keywords in a diff meaning? Will the computer be able to judge ? The computer wil give marks according to a set of codes and not by brains..Sometimes maybe the answer script is not scanned properly?What then?If everythin is replaced to computer, wher is the human brain taken into consideration?By doing this ur only easing up your work and runing our lives..
hey guys, i m currently writing my 6th sem mech exams….i cleared 5th sem but had one backlog from 4th sem atd and it is now critical…i couldn clear the subject in the previous sem coz i had avg of just 10 marks… Now,on 15th this of month i had to write a regular subject in morning and back subject in afternoon….i hadnt slept for two days before the exam and couldn actually give my best….nevertheless, i think i should pass in atd…i ll probably get around 45 to 50 in externals at the least ….but now this digital evaluation thing is psyching me out….pls tell me if vtu vil knw our internal marks for criti paper..i wrote my internal marks in the answer booklet but i scratched it at the end…but i think the evaluator can still be able to read it…pls respond to my query….thanx…concern vil be appreciated.

i wrote my 8th sem embedded paper. was very sure i ll pass..but the great vtu and its great valuation. I got only 28..i want to apply for revaluation. but my mom is not supporting.
what a fate cant vtu correct paper properly..y risk a students life..are they not humans..i m left with nothing but tears
if you are sure you will pass then i think you should apply for photocopy plus reval…

its better that we get the copy of our answer sheeets along with our results…. these answer sheets can me mailed to us as that is done when we apply for revaluation. this is because we can see where we have lost marks and then apply for revaluation if necessary…. its is cost effective for students also and no need to wait for reval results.. the one who is sure abt getting marks can only apply.. it may reduce burden on the university also..saying this because i had applied for revaluation twice n dint get any marks..it was shear waste of time n money.

Hello friends I just got my first sem examination result simply 60% I wass hopin for fcd but vtu has given me a shock!!!!my friends will read before two three days for exam dey ll get the desired result but I m not… Really feelin very bad for this scanning vtu shuld change its method of evaluation ..how to score marks ???? Pls reply me frienss……
vtu valuation sucks!!!!!hope its better to go with manual correction,even it takes time,results will be better.how long an examiner can sit and read the answers in system!blindly they vl give marks!
